Bloodhound LSR is going the break the current land car speed
Thrust SSC which is setback in 1997 which is around 760 mph. It was the first
vehicle to break the Sound barrier. The Bloodhound LSR is planned to achieve
the speed of 1000 mph on land which is the twice the speed of normal Boeing 787
Flight.
Bloodhound LSR is going various test runs in South African
Deserts, for the test runs they have cleared about 12.5 miles/20 km track for
the test run. To make runway they have cleared 16 thousand tons of rock from
dry lake bad.
Bloodhound LSR could reach 50-334 mph in 13 seconds, they
have started with 200 mph and increased 50 miles per hour with each of the test
runs. With this they could check how the equipment in the vehicle withstand to
different conditions. This vehicle was driven by Formal Royal Air Force Pilot
Andy Green.
The Bloodhound LSR Consists of Rolls-Royce EJ200 Jet Engine
which was found on Eurofighter typhoon and it could give 10 tons of thrust and
also they have added rocket propellant system to reach 1000 mph. The Wheel in
the Bloodhound LSR is basically Solid Aluminum Disc which is free from damage.
If this car achieved the speed of 1000 mph it could be the fastest car on land
and also the car to break the sound barrier.
